My wife Holly and I (Amanda) have been together for almost 9 years and this is our first child together. We decided to blog about our experience of trying to conceive and then the pregnancy process because we didn’t find a lot of resources out there about lesbian parents getting pregnant, besides our Facebook support group, and wanted to create something that others could find to help them gain knowledge about the process and connect with our experience. We also have a lot of family out of state and it is far easier to update a blog with stories and pictures than it is to write pages on Facebook and clog up everyone’s feeds with our pictures and posts. Our hope is that we can just share this process with the people we love and maybe some new friends too, because its been so interesting for both of us, so new, and we hope to educate as many people as we can about how this works for our kind of families 🙂
Holly and I were incredibly lucky that our trying to conceive process took on the second try, but this is not the case for many women out there. We hope that if you’re reading this and you are trying to conceive that you join the Facebook support group we’re a part of: TTC LGBT RE IUI IVF ONLY. We have gotten so much support, understanding, encouragement and love from the wonderful people in that group and encourage anyone trying to start a family to reach out for this group because it will help make this process far less scary, we swear.
If you want to connect with us, we are in the Los Angeles area and are always looking for friends who have babies or who are also pregnant, to bond with and share our mutual experiences (and maybe some delicious snacks), so feel free to connect!
